Our Kenya Coast, Tsavo or Amboseli Safari

Famous Watamu Beach, Kenya

Sapphire Blue Ocean & Tsavo's Rusty-Red Elephants

The Indian Ocean has shaped the history, culture, and growth of East Africa for centuries. Full of colour,  immense beauty,, with its sun bleached beaches and crystal-clear waters.

Amboseli is home to some of Africa's largest elephants who, for eons have paved routes from this park up into the forested sanctums of neighbouring Kilimanjaro. A maze of springs flow from these heights deep beneath the earth's surface into Amboseli, feeding lush, cool marshes where elephants eat aquatic grasses and reeds. Amboseli is ruled by giants crossing iti's dry flatlands, using their trunks to toss dust on their backs as protection from the harsh sun. Kilimanjaro shimmers above the scorched landscape. Clusters of palm tree oasis conceal thick green grass and beyond is a luna, rocky landscape.

Tsavo East & West covers a vast area which also boasts some of Africa's grandest elephants. Dividing East from West is the raging Tana River, a source of life for countless species of wildlife.  Tsavo East is larger and flatter with dryer landscape, making it more open and accessible for wildlife viewing. Here large herds of iconic Red Elephants rule, cloaked in thick, deep red soil.  Tsavo East is also  known for its thundering Lugard Falls cascading over once jagged stone, now smoothed by time. The water smashes, twists and turns pulling everything in its way into deep chasms, never to be seen again. Tsavo West consists of partly rugged landscape and hardened lava eons ago when Kilimanjaro erupted. Species of wildlife are numerous but harder to see due to thick tough grass. Tsavo West also includes  Mzima Springs where you can observe hippos  underwater from inside a waterproof hide. Here man eating lions earned a fierce reputation during the  construction of the original railway line in 1895. Tsavo's lions are now renowned for their sparse manes due to the thorny thickets where they seek shade.

TAITA HILLS WILDLIFE SANCTUARY

is a private reserve on exstinct volcanic slopes. Constructed on stilts it offers stunning views overlooking the savannah, bordering Tsavo West National Park (with free movement of wildlife between the two areas).

Buffalo, elephant, hyena, antelopes, lion, leopard and cheetah are among the spectacular wildlife species found in Taita Hills. Evening Game Drives are an option,  giving you the unique opportunity to sight nocturnal species including leopard, honey badgers, genets, and white-tailed mongoose. The bush comes alive at night when predators hunt and herbivores stick together in herds, taking turns to guard their periphery. Burrowing species surface to source food, and nocturnal winged species such as owls perch on high, waiting patiently to swoop down for a meal.
